LTN Team Pink!

A Friends and Family team blog for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk

Hello everyone!! I hope your fundraising is going GREAT!!

**UPDATE**

Team pink is coming along swell!! We have quite a few donations now! We’ve been recruiting at church, and need to email our walkers!! Caitlyn is going to ask permission from her principle to see if I can set up a table during lunch at her school so I hope that works out!

Just thought I’d give you some more ideas as we are starting the home stretch:

If you haven’t already, now is a wonderful time to start recruiting, Some fun ways are to set up a table at your church, sports club, or even school (with permission). Don’t forget about those e-mails!! Send them out to people who you think would like to walk!

If you have any questions feel free to post them or email me at hanstrand@earthlink.net.

Thanks for all of your ongoing support!!

~Hannah!

I just found out two more friends have been touched by these diseases. Doggone it, that makes five people I know at this very moment battling blood cancers. Four of them diagnosed in the last year. People, Donations fund research for a cure. OUR money makes a difference.  CLICK THE DONATE LINK ON THE RIGHT.

Sante G, known as fishnbanjo, is one of the foremost experts on bamboo fly rods in the world, and a great guy. He runs the Classic Fly Rod Forum, and just started chemo. Banjo, our prayers are with you.

Mark is a friend from Medford, and a fixture on the Rogue. Sculpin, you’re in our prayers. Get better, and back on the river.

So what can you do?

DONATE. NOW. Ten bucks, twenty five. More. I’m serious when I tell people that this makes a difference. Donations = Research = CURE.

The donation and join team pages were down at at active.com, the company that does that for the Society most if not all day yesterday. I checked early this morning, they were up and going again.

Sorry for those who tried to donate (I got a couple emails…)

Donate now!

Hannah just sent out the first real email. Time to get the drive started in earnest.

Just for posterity, here is what she sent…

Hello!

As most of you know my best friend has Leukemia. Every year the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has a walk to raise funds called the “Light The Night Walk”. I am forming a team and raising funds just like last year and I would like your help!!! Last year we raised over $13,000!!! Let’s make a new record!!!

When Caitlyn was diagnosed I was able to spend almost every day with her in the hospital. I have been able to be with her through ups and downs. When I heard of the walk I knew it was something I wanted to do. Now I have met and know over five people who are or have suffered from blood cancers.

Please check out my blog at www.ltnteampink.com, It has links to join the team, raise funds and walk and a link to donate if you can’t walk with us!!! We appreciate your support. The more money we raise, the closer we all will be to finding a cure to Leukemia and Lymphoma.

Thank you for all of you who donated or were on the team last year!!! Lets make this year even better!!!

PLEASE forward this to anyone you think would be interested in helping us raise funds! Every little bit helps, and if you are a single raindrop, we can all be part of the FLOOD!

Blessings,
Hannah Strand

Hello everyone!! This is Hannah and I wanted to tell you about a really cool tool for spreading the word about LTN.  As the title says, facebook is a great way to tell your friends about The LLS and LTN. One way is by joining the group “The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.”

Another great thing are these little pins you can put on your profile page…

I hope this helped!! I will be making a LTN Team Pink group for those of you who want to walk with us and have a facebook!!

Dan Allen and a Rogue River Coho Salmon

Team Pink’s “WooHoo! First Donation of the Year!!!” award goes to Mrs. Lisa Allen, whose husband Dan is one of the people Team Pink is walking in honor of. Dan was diagnosed with Hairy Cell Leukemia this past year.

Dan and Lisa are the owners, bakers, head floor sweepers and bottle washers of Great Harvest Bakery in Medford, Oregon. Since finding out a few years ago from a friend that Great Harvest “Cinnamon Chip” bread is not only tolerable when undergoing chemo, but actually tastes good, Dan and Lisa have donated and sent loaves of bread all over the country to friends and acquaintances taking chemotherapy. I think Caitlyn is STILL hooked. :)

Thank you for getting the donations started, Lisa!

If you have found this page and donated to Team Pink last year, why wait? For that matter, if you didn’t donate last year, why wait?
Donations = Research = Cure.
Let’s hit the road running this year.

DONATE to Team Pink NOW!

Like the previous post, I got these items from an online fundraising website to share with you. One of the key success factors of rainsing money, aside from leaving no stone unturned, is creativity. Opportunity is everywhere when the cause is worthy… like Light the Night.

Additional Fundraising Ideas:

• Create a flyer announcing your commitment. Prominently display the link to your site. Post flyers in locations you frequent i.e. Church, gym, Laundromat, local businesses, schools, your apartment complex, etc.

• Host an event. Plan a party at a local bar, restaurant, or your own home. Ask for a cover / donation which will benefit your cause. Use the opportunity to educate attendees about the cause you are supporting.

• Include a tagline and link to your fundraising page in your email signature.

Part of the deal in doing this blog is to help Friends and Family Teams raise money… It helps if you have a plan, so here is an individual plan - you can use it yourself, and share it with your Friends and Family Team members - if you have the courage to ask, you’ll be surprised what you can accomplish!
